Our Mission

As someone who grew up with a father who was likely autistic but never diagnosed, and now as a mom to autistic children, I’ve seen firsthand how often autistic people are misunderstood, underestimated, or overlooked entirely.

Our lives changed even more when our son was formally diagnosed with autism at 18. [See Andy HERE.]

The diagnosis brought clarity and a deeper understanding of how many people move through life misunderstood simply because they communicate, process, or experience the world differently.

As we learned more, we discovered a heartbreaking reality: unemployment rates for autistic adults are estimated between 70–90%. Not because of a lack of talent or ability — but because too few workplaces are designed to recognize strengths and create genuine opportunity.

I got tired of hearing what autistic people can’t do.

So instead of waiting for workplaces to change, we built one.

That’s why we created Spectrum of Sweets — not just to make cookies, but to create real jobs, real confidence, and real opportunity for autistic and neurodivergent individuals.

Because this was never about charity.

It’s about proving what’s possible when people are given the chance.
